What to include for a fast quote

The difference between a price in two days and a week of emails is usually four lines of detail.

Scope — steel erection, cladding, gratings, welding, or a supervised crew. Say which trades are already contracted.
Location — town and country. Site access and crane availability if you know them.
Quantity — tonnage, m² of cladding or grating, linear metres of handrail. An approximate figure is fine. A range beats nothing.
Programme — start date, the date the work has to be complete, and any shutdown in between.
Drawings — GA and sections if they are issued. A layout marked up by hand tells us more than a specification does.
Crew — whether you want a fixed-scope subcontract, or a supervised installation team you direct yourself.

Where we work

Metal KLS is based in Florești, near Cluj-Napoca, and takes packages across the European continent.

Most of our recent work has been in Germany and the Netherlands — data center packages in Frankfurt am Main, Amsterdam and Eemshaven. Beyond those, bridge packages in Denmark and industrial packages in Belgium and Finland.

Common questions

Do you work outside Romania?

Yes. Nearly all of our current work is abroad — Germany, the Netherlands, Denmark, Belgium and Finland. Our project pages show where.

Can you supply labour without taking the scope?

Yes. That is labour supply — you direct the crew, we employ, transport and house them.

What does the crew bring, and what does the site provide?

It depends on the contract. Our crews always sling their own lifts and provide their own banksman to the crane. Hand tools, PPE, access equipment and welding plant are split differently on every package — some clients supply all of it, some part of it, some none. We agree that split before mobilisation and put it in writing.

What is the smallest package you take on?

Smaller than most people expect. We have mobilised for one and two-day interventions, and the smallest package we have delivered was torquing bolts, running the quality control and preparing the handover documentation — no erection at all.

For a steel or cladding package, the smallest we would normally price is relative. Just for example, some small jobs that we priced were a section of data center roof gantry of around 1,000 m², 50 to 70 tonnes of erected steel structure, or 3,000 to 5,000 m² of sandwich panel wall cladding.

In Germany, do you have a Freistellungsbescheinigung?

Yes — a current exemption certificate under § 48b EStG. Without one, a German main contractor has to withhold 15% of every payment as construction tax and account for it to the Finanzamt. With ours, you pay our invoices in full and there is nothing for either of us to reclaim later. The certificate goes out with our prequalification documents.
